Gerrits Eager to Get Back In the Saddle at PDTR

After a raceday on the sidelines for the driver of the #21 GCM/NAPA 360 Sprint Car, Will Gerrits is more than eager to return to the driver’s seat.

Gerrits would take the last weekend off as prior commitments for the Waupun, WI native at Indianapolis Motor Speedway caused the team to schedule one of their sponsors, Andy Glewen, to race the car in Gerrits’ place. Glewen has had prior experience in racing, and he would run mostly clean and strong until the B Main, where a spinning Austin Hartmann gave Glewen nowhere to go and the two cars collided sending Glewen and the #21 for a ride. Luckily the damage wasn’t too severe and Andy walked away just fine.

This weekend will be the final single race weekend for the MSA Sprints in quite some time. A triple header next week, then a double over Labor Day weekend, means this weekend will be the last show before the hunt for points becomes even more intense as the MSA enters its final month of competition in 2020.

After putting Glewen in the car last week, Gerrits finds himself 12th in MSA Points, and 14th in PDTR Track points. Of course, not where the team wants to be, but with a large amount of races coming in a very short amount of time, a golden opportunity awaits for Gerrits to get back into the top 10 in the standings.

“Looking forward to getting back behind the wheel this Saturday.“ Gerrits said. “Special thanks to Andy for subbing when I was supposed to be in Indy. It wasn’t a great result but we all had fun! Tyler had a much better race in his car last week so hopefully that means our gremlins have been worked out. We’re ready to put both of our cars back up at the front of the field.“

Racing at Plymouth on Saturday night will get underway at 6PM, with the MSA 360s, Super Late Models, B Mods, and Grand Nationals.
