Trevor Frank Earns Podium in 2021 Season Opener

Tevor Frank finished an impressive 7th in B Mod points last season at Plymouth Dirt Track Racing in his rookie year. That included 4 nights where Frank didn’t even race at Plymouth. A podium and 3 top 5 finishes in his first ever year behind the wheel of a racecar is an impressive feat, and the eye-popping results continue to roll in for the 21F Team in their sophomore season.

A poor pill draw put Frank on the back foot to start the night, limited to a 7th place start in his heat race. However, “Ballpark” didn’t stay there long. Using some daring moves on a mostly one lane track, Frank worked his way to 3rd by the checkered flag, more than earning a spot in the night’s feature event.

The Saturday night A Main was scheduled for 25 laps, however opening night jitters and a tricky surface resulted in an abundance of cautions that caused the feature to be shortened to only 15 laps due to time limit. Frank kept his cool under the opening night pressure after starting in the 5th position. After an intense battle with Shane Long, the Sheboygan native found himself in 3rd place, and bearing down on the 2nd place runner Jesse Cullen. Cullen and Frank waged a fierce duel for the 2nd spot, but unfortunately for Frank, the caution time added up and the race was called for time. Still, a podium is a result the American Senior Benefits of Wisconsin #21 Team will take moving forward into the rest of the season.

“After a bad draw we managed 3rd in the heat,” Frank said. “And during a caution filled feature we went 5th to 3rd. I definitely wish we could have raced all the laps, but it’s just one of those deals. It feels great to be on the podium for the first night out in 2021! We did battle some mild mechanical gremlins that we’re hoping to have figured out by next week. All in all it was a positive turnaround from some off season woes!”

Next up for Trevor and the Frank Motorsports team is next Saturday night, back at Plymouth for another weekly show. Racing begins at 5:00.

Trevor Frank and the entire 21F team would like to thank their 2021 partners for helping them be able to compete this season!
