Will Armitage Racing Makes 410 Debut at Jacksonville

Jumping from a 305 Sprint to a 900 horsepower Winged 410 Sprint Car is a tall order for any race car driver, but Will Armitage and the XKGlow/Armitage Collision Repair team adapted well to the jump in power and class this past Saturday night at Jacksonville Speedway.

Armitage started the night off with a 6th place finish in his heat race, with solid laps made once he adjusted to the different handling characteristics of the car.

“I felt like I got more consistent every time we hit the track.” Armitage said. “We had small issues with the brakes and some other things, but once those issues are sorted out, we’ll be that much better.”

Starting 17th in the night’s Feature, Will made consistent and clean laps. Avoiding carnage in front and keeping pace with the cars ahead, the Athens, IL native kept his head down and when the rain came on lap 11, found himself in 14th when the race was called official.

“We rained out right when I thought we were finding speed in the A Main.” Will stated after the night’s events. “I think we had a good shot at a top 10 with how the race was unfolding.”

All in all, Armitage said he felt largely positive about how the debut night went.

“It was definitely a good first night in the 410 considering how much knowledge we’re lacking compared to the top teams.” Will said. “I can't thank my team, fans and partners enough for all their support during this learning curve!”

Will Armitage Racing will take this weekend off in preparation for a huge tripleheader weekend on May 27th, 28th and 29th. Friday’s action will once again take place at the Jacksonville Speedway, this time with Armitage behind the wheel of a National Midget, and Saturday will see Will behind the wheel of the XKGlow 7A with the MOWA 410 Sprint Cars at Highland Speedway. Sunday night, Armitage plans to wheel a D2 midget at the Spoon River Speedway for car owner Tracy Hull. Tickets for both events can be purchased at the track.

Will Armitage would like to thank his 2022 partners for their continued support!
