Trevor Frank Records First Podium Finish of Career with 2nd at PDTR

An up and down season has now taken a massive turn for the better in the Frank Motorsports camp. Trevor Frank brought the #21f B Mod home in a career best 2nd Place at Plymouth Dirt Track racing on Saturday night.

The night would start off on a high note for the #TeamMAS driver, lining up 3rd in heat Race #3. Frank passed John Hitsman 3 laps into the 10 lap race, and made a late charge to try and catch first place runner Shane Long but would eventually run out of laps. That 2nd place finish would put the #21f on the inside of the second row for the feature.

Frank actually lost positions on the initial start of the 25 lap feature event, falling back to around 7th place early. The Sheboygan Native would fight hard with the #70 of Jason Schilling and both drivers would work their way back into the top 5 by the final caution of the race with just 10 laps to go. On the restart, Frank would work his way back into 3rd ahead of Schilling and the #66 of Steve Lorier and start to track down the #3 of Travis Schmidt in 2nd. On Lap 19, Frank made his move down the inside of Schmidt, and would find himself in 2nd with 5 to go. After a fantastic defense of 3rd against the #03w of Tim Warner, Frank began to chip away at the #18 of Brian Wieland out front, gaining a few car links every lap. But like in his heat race, would run out of laps at the end, allowing Wieland to score his first career A Main win. Still, a career best finish for Frank in his rookie season in the Cellcom B Mod Class at Plymouth.

“We gambled on the setup for the heat race and really found some extra drive off the corners,” Frank said. “We then built off that for the A Main and ended up coming one spot short of the goal, but congrats to Brian and his crew, they drove a flawless race.” Frank then looked ahead to the final few races of the season. “We have a lot of good momentum to build on going into a huge weekend with races on Thursday and Friday at Plymouth for points, and we’re looking at racing somewhere Saturday but nothing’s been decided yet. I have to say thank you to everyone who helps out on this thing and our sponsors that make it all possible!”

With that a 2nd place finish in both his heat and in the Feature, Frank was actually the highest points scorer in the Cellcom B Mod division on Saturday, and thus jumping him 3 places higher in the standings to 7th. Frank still leads the Rookie of the Year standings by a considerable margin, as his two rivals, the #25 of Jim Fischer and #27L of Brendan Ostrowski struggled this week. The Cellcom B Mod class will have two races this week at Plymouth, on Thursday for the Russ Scheffler Tribute, and Friday with the Dirt King’s Late Models.
