Tischendorf Racing Earns Second Top 5 Finish of 2021 at Plymouth

“It feels great, but definitely thinking ‘what could have been’ about that first yellow.” Tyler Tischendorf had mixed, but mostly positive feelings about his second Top 5 finish of 2021 this past Saturday at the Plymouth Dirt Track.

Tischendorf drew the second starting spot in his heat race, and after a good initial getaway, brought the Green Bay Blizzard 26T home in 2nd behind series points leader Travis Arenz.

“I felt good about our speed in the heat race,” Tischendorf said. “But it’s hard when the 25T [Arenz] runs away with it. We put a big gap on 3rd place though, so I felt positive going into the A Main.” The young star had a lot to be positive about, earning the outside pole for the 25 Lap Feature after the invert, starting directly in front of his fellow Box3 Racing PR drivers Jack Vanderboom and Will Gerrits on the outside of the first three rows.

On the initial start, Tischendorf powered to the outside and pulled even with pole sitter Lance Fassbender on the first circuit. Still on his rear bumper on lap 2, Tischendorf saw the yellow lights come on for a two car incident on the backstretch. With the upcoming restart being “Delaware Double-File”, the 26T would have to start on the inside of row 2.

“The top was definitely the preferred line to start the race.” Tischendorf said. “I had such a good run on Lance and I felt like I could have taken the lead, but the yellow killed it. Restarting on the bottom wasn’t ideal, and I let Jack, Will and Travis get by me on the top before I could finally jump up and take the line back.”

Now running in 5th, Tyler used the top side to close back up to now 4th running Vanderboom, and began to put pressure on. With both drivers finding the rubber on the bottom side of the ⅓ mile dirt oval at around the same time, it neutralized any passing attempts from the 26T, and Tischendorf would settle for a 5th place finish.

“A Top 5 is awesome, and it being our second of the year definitely shows we’re heading in the right direction.” The youngster from Waupaca, WI said. “It’s a great night for this team. The Green Bay Blizzard and Happy Camper Boat and RV Storage 26T was on rails tonight from the start. We’ve been really fast these past few weeks since Outagamie and we’ll look to keep that momentum rolling into the second half of the season.”

Next up for Tischendorf Racing is Saturday night, back at The Dirt Track at Plymouth for their regular PDTR program.
