Will Gerrits was born on March 28, 1998 in Waupun, WI. Will would begin his racing career in Go Karts at the Beaver Dam Raceway infield track, enjoying success from the get go. He would continue in Go Karts until the early 2010’s, racing with fellow drivers from Waupun including Tyler Brabant, winning numerous nightly features along the way.
Gerrits would then turn to winged cars in 2013, jumping first into a 600 Micro Sprint in the Badger Micro Series. “The Flying Dutchman” would reel off feature wins almost immediately, beating the likes of Tucker Klaasmeyer, Zach Boden, and more. Gerrits would assert himself as top dog in the Micro ranks by winning the 2015 series championship.
Coming off of that 2015 championship season, Gerrits would move into a Winged 360 Sprint Car along with his teammate Tyler Brabant, and enter in the 2016 MSA Sprint Car Championship. Gerrits would tally multiple top 10 finishes during the season to wrap up the Rookie of the Year award in both the MSA and at the Plymouth Dirt Track. Gerrits would continue on in the MSA for many seasons to come, and after coming 2nd multiple times, would tally his first career feature win in 2019 at Plymouth, and lose out at the line in another feature at Outagamie Speedway to Lance Fassbender. With that win and multiple other top 5’s he would win the MSA Most Improved Driver Award for that season, finishing a career best 4th overall in the championship standings.
In 2020, Gerrits and Brabant acquired new sponsorship with Great Commission Media Ministries and would once again field the 21 and 99 cars in the MSA. Motor and fuel problems have plagued the team in the 2020 season so far, but Gerrits has managed to tally numerous top 10 finishes so far, with an average 33 cars appearing at each event. Gerrits plans to finish out the season with the MSA along with making select appearances in his 360 with the IRA 410 sprints.
