Blake Nimee and the #79 team enjoyed their best sprint car season in a number of years in 2024, scoring 2 feature wins and a track championship along with nearly a top 5 average finish when competing with the Bumper to Bumper IRA Sprints. However, the Yorkville, IL driver is looking ahead to the 2025 campaign with high hopes.
“2024 was a fantastic season for us.” Nimee stated. “Barely 20 races with a ton of consistency, all while being in position to win at least half the races we competed in. I’m so proud of us being able to find speed so quickly and the Wilmot Raceway Track Championship is something I’ll always savor. It’s been difficult to gauge our progress because we’re always trying to raise the bar, as I have an incredible support system to keep pushing forward.”
Raising the bar indeed. Nimee was a frontrunner nearly everywhere the #79 competed in 2024, but transferring those 2nd and 3rd place finishes into wins is the main goal in 2025.
“We’ll look to build on the solid foundation we’ve created and the understanding that the podiums need to turn into wins.” Nimee admitted. “We have everything in place in order to pursue that goal, all while having fun and striving towards being a top team with the IRA.”
While the #79 won’t be running on a full time basis with the IRA Sprints, Nimee is aiming for a similar schedule to 2024 which will allow the team to “pick and choose” their races while still competing against quality competition week in and week out.
“2025 is something we’re much better prepared for this time around.” Nimee said of the state of their race program. “We’re just thrilled to get back to racing at this point. My Dad [Rob Nimee], Jeff, Todd, and Danny among others, plus our tremendous partners have really positioned us to succeed this year. We aim to compete in 15-25 races depending on rain outs and my availability with work. We’ll run mainly with the IRA while throwing in some High Limit and/or World of Outlaws shows in the area.”
Competing up front with the IRA in 2025 will be no small feat, with the series expecting their highest car counts in years and a stacked field of 20 “full timers” that will offer significant competition for a team of any level this season.
“The competition and sheer car count for this year with the IRA is going to be the toughest in recent memory.” Nimee said. “We’re happy to be a small part of it. I have to thank the entire team and our partners for making it possible to continue to do what we love.”
The #79 team will kick off their 2025 campaign this Saturday night at the Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, WI with the IRA Sprints at the Glenn Hepfner Memorial. Tickets will be available at the gate with the entire 2025 IRA season broadcast LIVE on FloRacing.
Blake Nimee Racing is proud to represent these fantastic partners during their 2025 Season!
