On the back of a successful 2024 IRA Rookie season with Tylar Rankin behind the wheel, Greg Wheeler Motorsports has tabbed Max Guilford of Auckland, NZ to pilot the iconic #16C for the 2025 season.
“First off, I want to sincerely thank Tylar and the Rankin family for being part of this team the past three years. We had a lot of success, and we hope to continue that trend with Max behind the wheel.” Team owner Greg Wheeler said in a statement. “I think Max will be a great fit for this team. Watching him race with the IRA this past year has been fun and he’s a great competitor. We’re all really excited to have him drive for us in 2025.”
The team will enter the 2025 season with series title aspirations, and for good reason. Guilford was a force with the IRA in 2024, running a part-time schedule behind the wheel of the Benic Enterprises #79M. The Kiwi scored his first USA victory at the Beaver Dam Raceway in June of this year to go along with 6 Top 5’s and 12 Top 10’s.
Guilford will be back in New Zealand for the summer race season but is looking forward to chasing an IRA championship with the #16C team in 2025.
“Greg and his guys were great competitors this year and I can’t wait to drive for him.” Guilford stated. “The IRA has a great group of guys that race hard and clean and I’m excited to have the opportunity to drive for Greg with the series on a full-time basis.”
A full 2025 schedule of races for Greg Wheeler Motorsports will be released over the USA’s winter months, while you can follow along with Max’s New Zealand summer season on the Guilford Motorsport Facebook page.
