“It was basically a last-minute decision to head to Highland [Speedway] with the weather looking iffy at Knoxville.” Jordan Goldesberry said about the choice to run with the Midwest Open Wheel Association this past Saturday night.
Sometimes, last minute decisions pay off.
With pill draw setting heat race lineups, Goldesberry lined up in the 8th position and stormed his way to a 4th place finish. The +4 effort put the Rockstar Energy Drink #65 in the re-draw, and Goldesberry drew outside-pole for the 25 lap A Main.
Starting outside young hot-shoe Gage Montgomery and with multiple strong cars behind, Goldesberry powered to the lead on lap 2 and navigated the smooth and slick Highland Speedway track surface to his second 410 Sprint Car A Feature win of 2023. Gage Montgomery followed in 2nd with Corbin Gurley, Joe B. Miller and Logan Faucon rounding out the Top 5.
“It was really great to take the lead early and control the race from there.” Goldesberry stated. “The track was nice and slick and the Rockstar Energy #65 was really fast all night long.”
Looking ahead to the coming weeks, Goldesberry is ready for the IRA schedule to kick into high gear.
“Definitely excited about the next few weeks.” The 2022 IRA Champion said. “We’ve picked up wins and some really good runs at most of these places coming up so we’re hoping it’s a strong part of the year for us.”
Goldesberry and the Rockstar Energy Drink #65 team will continue their 2023 IRA Sprints campaign on May 13th at Wilmot Raceway for the first of three visits by the All-Star Circuit of Champions to the Badger State. Tickets are available through the MyRacePass app as well as at the track and FloRacing will provide live coverage of the IRA all season long.
Looking beyond this Saturday, the IRA enters four straight double-header weekends. Starting with the Plymouth Dirt Track and Angell Park Speedway on May 20th and 21st. Tickets for Plymouth will be available at the track, while Angell Park will have pre-sale available through Ticket Hoss as well as on site on race day.
