Jordan Goldesberry and the Rockstar Energy Drink #65 team started 2023 incredibly strong, with two wins already in the books. However, there’s bound to be bumps in the road along the way.
“We qualified decently but didn’t make it through our heat which kind of buried us for the rest of the night.” driver Jordan Goldesberry stated about his outing against a 44 car strong All Star Circuit of Champions/IRA Sprints field at Wilmot Raceway. “Luckily, we were still able to transfer through the B Main but obviously starting in the back against a field like that is never ideal.”
The 2022 IRA Champion picked up a few spots early on in the 30 Lap Feature, but couldn’t make any significant gains in the non-stop, green to checkered main event.
“We picked off a few cars really quickly, but I got into the inside berm and lost them right back.” Goldesberry said of the A Main. “Ended up coming home in 18th. You just can’t make mistakes against these guys with the track being as fast as it was. No cautions definitely didn’t help our cause, but that’s the way it goes sometimes.”
Goldesberry maintains a strong position in the IRA points championship [2nd], however there’s still a lot of work to do with four straight doubleheader weekends on tap.
“Really looking forward to this weekend and the next month for sure.” Goldesberry said of the coming stretch of races. “We’re really strong at a lot of these places so we’ll see what we can do.”
Goldesberry and the Rockstar Energy Drink #65 team will continue their 2023 IRA Sprints campaign on May 20th at the Plymouth Dirt Track at the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds in Plymouth, WI for the Frank Filskov Memorial/Prelude to the Rudeen Race. The IRA then heads to historic Angell Park Speedway on Sunday, May 21st for the track’s season opener. Tickets are available at the track for both events, with Sunday’s admission also available through the Ticket Hoss App and on the Angell Park Speedway website.
