“It’s just another race to us.” Joe B Miller said in an interview with FloRacing’s Drake York prior to Saturday’s portion of the 6th Running of the Shamrock Classic at the Southern Illinois Center in Du Quoin, IL. “When you run 70-80 nights a year you have to treat every race the same. The track time at this place definitely helps, but we’ll just have to wait and see how we do.”
It was definitely business as usual for Joe B and the Speed Shack Performance camp on the Micro side of the pits, with Joe B sweeping both features and Speed Shack taking four out of six possible podium spots, including a clean sweep on Friday night. Saturday night got interesting with Kameron Key and Brady Bacon making bids for the lead throughout the feature, but Joe B and his Fast Four Media 51B machine held fast and grabbed the $1,000 pay day.
“Friday was awesome with a podium sweep.” Joe B said. “The micro deal is firing on all cylinders for us lately. We definitely had a tougher race tonight [Saturday] with Kameron and Brady up there but I’m glad we could hold them off and pull away a bit at the end.”
Joe B and the Outlaw Mini Loaders team also brought the 51B King Chassis Midget to Du Quoin in hopes of taking home the $10,000 to win Shamrock Classic with the USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midgets. Solid efforts on both nights of racing saw the former Tulsa Shootout Champion finish 7th and 4th, respectively, over the two nights of action.
“We had speed in the midget.” Joe B said after Saturday's feature. “Just got caught out early on both nights with some bad luck. The last few laps of tonight’s feature were really fun. I just let it all hang out on the top to try and get by Daniel [Robinson].”
Next up for Joe B. Miller Motorsports is a 3-race swing at Port City Raceway in Tulsa, OK for the Rayce Rudeen Foundation Non-Wing Showcase featuring Outlaw Non-Wing Micros. Saturday’s feature will pay out a whopping $7,500 to the winner of the Outlaw Micro A Main. The event runs from March 17-19 (Thursday night is open Practice), and tickets are available at the track.
Starting Friday night, the Micro Sprint action at Port City will be broadcast LIVE on the FloRacing streaming service, and live timing will be available on the MyRacePass app.
