Jake Neuman Scores Podium in 2022 IRA Opener at Beaver Dam

“I think I need to go to the gym! I’m worn out.”

Jake Neuman and the Brandt Racing 3N mastered a fast and technical Beaver Dam Raceway this past Saturday night to kick off their 2022 IRA Rookie of the Year Campaign with a bang.

“I think this is only our 18th or so start with this car.” Jake said in his post-race interview. “So, to get a podium tonight against these guys is awesome.”

The night kicked off with Neuman turning in the 9th fastest time in IRA Qualifying, meaning he’d only have to finish 6th or higher in his heat race to make one of two Dashes that set the Top 10 Starting spots for the night’s 30 lap A Main.

Starting P2 in Heat 3, Neuman drove a smart 8 laps and finished in that 2nd spot, transferring to the dash redraw. His night got even better after that, drawing the pole of Dash #1. However, after a 4-lap duel with former IRA Champion Jeremy Schultz, Neuman would finish 2nd in the Dash, earning the 3rd place starting spot for the night’s Season Opening Feature.

Throughout the 30 lap, cowboy-up A Main, the former POWRi National Champion dueled once again with Schultz for second place, as leader Scotty Thiel ran away from the pack early. Jake eventually eclipsed Schultz for the #2 spot and began to chase down Thiel in traffic. At one point the gap between Neuman and Thiel shrunk to just a single car length, but it immediately grew again as the 3N was held up behind the 4B of Scott Biertzer in lapped traffic. Just one lap later, Neuman once again was stuck behind the 4B when Schultz made a daring move to the bottom to take 2nd back from Jake. After a couple late restarts and a short battle with the 85M of Steve Meyer for 3rd, the New Berlin, IL native prevailed and came across the line for his first 410 Sprint Car podium of 2022.

“That track was difficult for sure.” Jake said. “The track crew did their best with how much rain they got this past week, but there’s only so much you can do. Huge thank you to them for their efforts to give us a place to race this weekend. Hopefully we can keep this momentum up and grab some more podiums and maybe even a win this season with IRA. Definitely looking forward to racing up here more often!”
