Jack Vanderboom Continues MSA Top 10 Streak at Plymouth

Consistency is key. That notion is apparent to anyone who has ever chased a series championship. Jack Vanderboom has solidified himself as a front runner in the MSA in 2021, currently 5th in points and is one of only three drivers to record 3 straight top 10 finishes to start the season.

Last Saturday at Plymouth started well for Vanderboom. After a 6th place start in his heat, “Fast Jack” used the half-built cushion to rocket around fellow #TeamMAS Driver Tyler Brabant in the opening stages, then snuck by Blake Wondra with 3 laps to go to claim 4th place at the flag. A +2 run that locked the Dousman, WI native into the feature.

Pushing off 11th, Vanderboom started the 25 lap feature on the bottom of the ⅓ mile Plymouth Oval, showing the way to another #TeamMAS pilot, Will Gerrits. Jack started picking off places almost immediately, advancing to 9th before jumping up to the high side and taking Gerrits with him. Eventually, Gerrits advanced past the U2 car, but then Vanderboom stole a position from former MSA Champion Kurt Davis in the closing stages to take home a solid 8th place run. Vanderboom has started 2021 with a finish record of 7th, 7th and now 8th.

“Anytime we can move forward into the top 10 and roll it into the trailer in one piece is a good night.” Vanderboom said. “I’m happy with where we’re at but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want a top 5 or a win sometime soon! We’ll try again at the double-header this weekend.”

The MSA Sprints series will embark on their first Doubleheader of 2021 this weekend. First, to Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, WI for the 2nd time this year, and then to The Dirt Track at Plymouth in Plymouth, WI for a regular PDTR program. Tickets for both nights will be available at their respective tracks.
