Jordan Goldesberry continued to show the Rockstar Energy Drink #65 is a top program with the Bumper to Bumper IRA Sprints this past weekend at the Dick Colburn Classic with a strong showing all throughout the chilly spring night at Wilmot Raceway.
Qualifying a stout 5th in Flight B out of a massive 37 car field, Goldesberry started 2nd in Heat #3 and used a fantastic start to grab the lead and eventually the heat race win, punching his ticket to the night’s Horizon Whiskey Dash Redraw.
A 5th place start and finish in Dash #1 put the Springfield, IL driver in the 9th starting spot for the evening’s 30 lap A Main. A frantic race ensued, with Goldesberry fighting tooth and nail for every position. Running as high as 5th and as low as 10th, the #65 battled back and came across the finish line in 7th place, another solid result and great points finish for the team.
“Another really decent night for us.” Goldesberry said. “We qualified a lot better than last week and got the heat race win. The dash draw didn’t go our way, and it felt like there wasn’t a whole lot of movement around the Top 10 in the feature so we just had to take what we could get. We were knocking on the door of a Top 5 finish before the last caution. Just need to get that little bit better to get back on the podium, but we’re really close. Hopefully we can keep these clean runs going.”
This coming weekend, the Rockstar Energy Drink #65 will contest a doubleheader of Illinois bullrings. First with the Midwest Open Wheel Association on Friday Night at the Jacksonville Speedway. This will be Goldesberry’s first visit to Jacksonville in many years.
“Jacksonville has never been that good to us in the past in terms of results, but I’m excited to get back to a track that’s pretty close to home for us.” Goldesberry said.
Saturday, the team will make a public appearance at the Hy-Vee in Sycamore, IL prior to joining back up with the IRA tour at Sycamore Speedway later that night.
“We’ve had some success and great speed at Sycamore in the past couple of years including a Top 5 run last season.” Goldesberry said of the northern Illinois track. “You never really know what you’re going to get there in terms of the racetrack so it makes it interesting and fun to adjust to. Hopefully it’s in great shape like it was last year and we can be back up front again.”
Tickets for Saturday’s event at Sycamore are available at irasprints.com/schedules as well as at the track on race day. All 2025 IRA events are broadcast live on FloRacing.
