Goldesberry Looks to Put Rough Stretch in the Rearview

“Frustrating.” Was the name of the game this past Saturday night for the Rockstar Energy Drink #65 team and driver Jordan Goldesberry.

A stacked field of 42 IRA Sprints attended the 11th Bill Waite Jr. Memorial at Fairbury American Legion Speedway with $7,000 on the line, and qualifying meant everything in terms of setting your team up for a solid night of racing.

“We went out late in the first flight of qualifying.” Goldesberry stated. “The track had gone away a bit and the lap times reflected that.”

Goldesberry timed in 14th out of the 21 cars in his flight, but rebounded with a solid heat race run from the 7th starting spot to 3rd at the finish.

Starting 13th in the 30 lap feature, Goldesberry battled for a top 10 spot all race long until a spin close to the halfway point halted his progress. The Springfield, IL native rebounded to an 18th place finish.

“Just a frustrating night overall. It felt like we had front running speed but just didn’t have anywhere to go with it starting mid-pack.” The 2022 IRA Champion said. “We’re looking forward to heading back to Plymouth this weekend and hopefully getting some momentum rolling into the second half of the season.”

One big positive to come from the weekend was another Hy-Vee visit by the Rockstar Energy Drink #65 team, this time at the Bloomington, IL location on Saturday prior to the evening’s racing.

“The Hy-Vee visits are an awesome way to showcase the car and our great sponsors like Rockstar Energy.” Goldesberry said. “Meeting so many great fans away from the track really shows how far this sport reaches and introducing new people to the sport is great. Hopefully we get to do a lot more of that as the season goes on.”

Goldesberry and the Rockstar Energy Drink #65 team will continue their 2023 IRA Sprints campaign on Saturday, July 1st at the Plymouth Dirt Track, for the annual Scott Semmelmann Memorial.. Tickets are available at the facility on Saturday. FloRacing will provide live coverage of the IRA all season long.

Jordan Goldesberry Racing thanks their 2023 partners for their support this season!
