Goldesberry Finds Speed During IRA Doubleheader; Knoxville Nationals on Tap.

Another solid weekend for Jordan Goldesberry and the Rockstar Energy Drink #65 team has the defending IRA Champion heading into the final ⅓ of 2023 on a high note, with the biggest week in sprint car racing up next.

“Easily the most speed we’ve had since All Star weekend.” Goldesberry stated of the weekend’s races at Plymouth and Wilmot. “It’s unfortunate our overall finishes didn’t show it, but we’re finally back in our groove a bit with Knoxville coming up.”

A dry and dusty qualifying session set the #65 back on Friday night at Plymouth, but Goldesberry rebounded well with a 14th to 7th run in the $5,000 to win Road America Challenge Feature.

“The rubber down low killed our top side momentum late in the feature.” Goldesberry said of the 30 lap A Main. “We were battling for a Top 5 and maybe had a shot at a podium but just got caught out by the changing track.”

On Saturday, the IRA Sprints headed to Wilmot, WI for the annual IRA Founder’s Night event, and Goldesberry once again found himself at the sharp end of the field throughout the night. However car to car contact in the waning laps of the feature broke the front end of the Rockstar Energy Drink #65 and ended the Springfield, IL native’s night early.

“I think we were battling for 4th or 5th when I went to the outside of Jake [Neuman] and we just went for the same piece of track and made contact. No fault either way just a racing deal and one of those things that can happen while racing hard. It’s unfortunate for the team but we can definitely be happy with the speed we had all weekend at two very different tracks. We’re really fast at a great time of the season to make a late charge and hopefully continue to put together solid nights.

Goldesberry and the Rockstar Energy Drink #65 team will enjoy a weekend off and then hit the road to Knoxville, IA for the Knoxville Nationals event with the World of Outlaws. Goldesberry had a solid Nationals outing in 2022 transferring out of the E Main and running 23rd to 16th in the D Feature event. The entire week will be broadcast live on Dirtvision with tickets available for purchase on Knoxville Raceway’s website.
