Goldesberry Earns Third Straight Top 5 of 2024 at Sycamore

Sycamore Speedway in Maple Park, IL marks the only stop in Jordan Goldesberry Motorsports’ home state during the 2024 IRA Sprint Car Series tour, and the 2022 series champion made sure it didn’t go to waste.

Kicking off the night with a strong 5th place qualifying effort, Goldesberry ensured a Dash Redraw lock-in spot with a 3rd place finish in his heat race.

“The track all night was significantly different than the past two years at Sycamore.” Goldesberry stated of the third-mile high banked oval. “In the past it always got dry and slick pretty fast but this time it built a really thick cushion that we could run all night, along with the bottom staying tacky especially in turns 3 and 4. It made for a pretty fun night.”

After a 4th to 3rd run in his their 4 lap Dash, the Rockstar Energy Drink #65 team lined up 5th for the 30 lap A Main. After an initial false start due to contact on the front row, Goldesberry rocketed forward on the ensuing restart off of the hooked up low side in turn 4 to grab 2nd place early on.

After following race leader and eventual feature winner Jake Neuman through lapped traffic for several laps, Goldesberry found himself in an all out war for the remaining podium and top 5 positions with 2x IRA champion Jake Blackhurst, Travis Arenz, series points leader Scotty Thiel, and Kyle Schuett. The Springfield, IL native held strong and brought the Flamin’ Hot/HyVee Fast & Fresh #65 home in 5th place at the end of the Feature event.

“The A Main started off really well, getting to 2nd early.” Goldesberry said of the third Feature of the 2024 IRA season. “Unfortunately we just faded a bit towards the end, but definitely still happy with another Top 5 finish.”

The 5th place result marked the 3rd straight Top 5 for Goldesberry in 2024, and 7th straight Top 10 finish dating back to 2023. It also solidified Goldesberry as a 2024 title contender with the IRA as the top 4 drivers in the series point standings are separated by a mere 57 points heading into the summer months.

Next up on the #65 team’s schedule will be a fan favorite doubleheader with the IRA Sprints, beginning this Saturday, May 18th at the Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, WI where Goldesberry has twice found victory lane in the past. Sunday, May 19th, the series heads to the historic Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, WI for the Dahlke Memorial.

The entire 2024 IRA Sprints season will be broadcast live on FloRacing, and additional “outside” races will be added to Jordan Goldesberry Motorsports’ 2024 schedule at a later date.
