Bailey Goldesberry knew there would be some growing pains moving to full time 410 racing this season. The accomplished 305 Sprint Driver couldn’t have picked a tougher test to start her debut 410 year, going up against a Midwest Open Wheel Association field at Tri-City Speedway that included ASCS Warrior Champion Ayrton Gennetten, Zach Daum, Ryan Bunton, Midget Standout Clinton Boyles, Tulsa Shootout winner Joe B. Miller, IRA Winner and Bailey’s cousin Jordan Goldesberry, and the only woman to ever win at Knoxville McKenna Haase. However, Bailey made solid laps from beginning to end, and a clean night set the Lonewolf Petroleum team up well moving forward.
MOWA uses a pill draw system to set their heat race lineups, and Goldesberry’s draw put her 7th, dead last in Heat 3. A solid race saw her advance one position to 6th. Using a passing points system, it was unclear whether or not Bailey would make the Feature based off of that finish. Unfortunately, she would come up just a little bit short, and be forced to run the B Main.
The advancement in her heat did give Goldesberry a 3rd place starting position in the B Feature, albeit amongst a stacked field. Jeremy Standridge, Logan Faucon, Andy Bishop and fellow #TeamMAS Driver Kyle Schuett would be vying with Bailey for only 4 transfer spots. On the start, Goldesberry fell back to the 6th spot due to the top lane getting a better start. However, Bailey would begin to make solid laps around the Tri-City Speedway and advance to 5th and begin to start closing on Andy Bishop for 4th, but it was too little too late. Goldesberry’s night ended with a 5th place finish in the B Main, one spot short of the feature. A tough result, but not without its positives.
“Honestly, all i can say is that I wished we would have finished better.” Goldesberry said. “We did turn some good, clean laps and rolled the car into the trailer in one piece, and that’s all we can hope for on any night. We know it’s going to take time and laps to get to where we want to be, but we’re working really hard to get there. We’ll look to log some more seat time and do better this weekend at Beaver Dam.”
Next up for the BGR #4 Team is this Saturday night in their IRA Sprints Opener at Beaver Dam Raceway. The IRA field is without a doubt stacked this year, but it’s also a series that Goldesberry has experience with. Tickets will be available at the speedway in Beaver Dam, WI. If you’re unable to make it to the track, you can watch each and every IRA Sprints event this year on the FloRacing streaming service.
